What the code of practice says

Safe Work Australia's model Code of Practice for first aid in the workplace says all workers must be able to access a first aid kit, and that kit contents should be based on a risk assessment. It also says emergency eye wash equipment should be provided where hazardous chemicals or infectious substances could cause eye injuries. For cleaning teams, that's worth checking wherever concentrates are decanted or diluted.

When mopping, put a wet floor sign out before you start and leave it there until the floor is dry.

Common questions

How many first aid kits do we need?
At least one. Safe Work Australia also suggests more if your workplace is spread out, so a kit is always easy to reach, and a kit in each work vehicle if workers travel for their job.
